Bittiq has developed this Privacy Statement to clarify how the company may collect, retain, process, share and transfer personal data related to individuals who use our services or visit our website.
This Privacy Statement is designed for individuals and for companies that enter in to contact or do business with Bittiq, to help them understand Bittiq privacy practices and to help them express an informed consent when using one of the services provided by Bittiq.
Bittiq has defined some terms used throughout the Privacy Statement. Users can find the meaning of a capitalised term in the Definitions section.

Bittiq: Bittiq B.V., a private company with limited liability (besloten vennootschap) incorporated under the laws of the Netherlands having its office address in Europalaan 400, 3526 KS, Utrecht, the Netherlands, registered with the Trade Register in the Netherlands under number 69249415 (hereinafter “Bittiq” or “We”)
Personal Data: any information related to an identified or identifiable natural person who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person. With particular regard to the activity performed by Bittiq, Personal Data are users’ bank account number and list of the user’s transactions.
Services: Bittiq is a technology company that offers products and services mainly oriented towards financial institutions. These products and services are aimed at providing smart insights into the personal finance of companies’ end users based on the analysis of transaction data. The Services are usually provided in cooperation with a Partner (see next) who distributes the Services to its own clients. The insights provided by Bittiq have an informative purpose, but do not constitute financial advice.
User: every user of the Bittiq Service or user of the Bittiq website (bittiq.com).
Partner: any entity who distributes the Services of Bittiq to its clients.
Process: means any method or way that Bittiq handles Personal Data or sets of Personal Data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, and consultation, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction of Personal Data.
By accepting this Privacy Statement Users gives their informed consent on processing Personal Data by Bittiq.
3. Personal data that Bittiq collects
Here is how Bittiq collects Personal Data about the Users when they visit the Bittiq Sites or use the Bittiq Services:
Information that Users provide directly to Bittiq. We collect the information that Users provide directly to us, such as the information Users provide when they create an account to use our Services, update their profile, fill out our “contact us” form, sign up for our emails, request customer support, enrol in billing, execute a services agreement, complete a compliance questionnaire, or otherwise communicate with us. The types of information we collect include identifiers (such as full name, email address, postal address, phone number, identification number), professional information (such as company name and title), and any other information they may choose to provide.
Information related to the use of our Services. When Users use our Services, we automatically collect information such as the log information (the type of browser they use, access times, pages viewed, and your IP address etc.). We may also collect data on their approximate location from their IP address.
Information collected by Cookies and other tracking technologies. We use various technologies to collect identifiers and electronic network activity information when Users use our Services, including cookies and web beacons. Cookies are small data files stored by Users’ web browser, on their hard drive, or in device memory that help us improve our Services and Users’ experience, determine usage of parts and features of our Services, and monitor for and detect potential harmful conduct. Web beacons are electronic images that are used in our Services or emails and help deliver cookies, count visits, and understand usage and campaign effectiveness.
4. Scope of the retention
We do not store data from Users for more than what is strictly needed to provide them the Services for which they subscribe, either directly with Bittiq or via a Bittiq Partner. In this case,
we process the data insofar as needed to fulfil the obligation we have entered with the User. The data is thereafter deleted or anonymized.
We also store data to fulfil legal or regulatory obligations when this is required by the law.

5. How Bittiq uses the data
We collect, store and process Personal Data to offer our Services. This includes:
• Authenticate Users’ identity or access to an account
• Deliver our Service in the form of insights or notifications to the Users
• Communicate Users or answer a support request
• Create an account connection between Users’ Account and a third-party account or platform or the service offered by a Partner
• To monitor, analyse, and improve the Services and the website’s performance and functionality, and in general to manage Bittiq’s business needs
• To manage risk and protect our Services or the Users from fraud by verifying users’ identity and helping to detect and prevent fraud and abuse
• To send commercial communication about our products or services. This applies to users who get in contact with Bittiq directly (for example via our website or at an event).
• To comply with legal obligations and to enforce the terms of our Services.
6. Legal basis for data processing
We also process Users’ data to develop and customize our Services and functionalities. The data may also form the basis for product- and customer analysis, statistics and business- and method development. Furthermore, data may be processed for the purpose of ensuring that we have delivered our Services correctly. Processing of these data categories of data is done with our legitimate interest as a legal basis.
We also process Users’ data to send them commercial communication about our products or Services. This applies to users who get in contact with Bittiq directly. Users may opt out of receiving marketing emails from us by following the instructions in those emails. When users opt out, we may still send them other types of emails, such as those about their account or an ongoing business relation.
Finally, we may process Users’ data in the context of our obligations to comply with applicable anti-money laundering or anti-terrorism rules, or for preventing fraud and to enhance security. These obligations are the legal basis for this processing.
7. Data disclosure to third parties
When our Services are distributed by a Partner, the Partner collects the Users’ data, after which it is processed by Bittiq. In this case, the data is transferred to allow Bittiq to provide the service to the User.
Finally, Users’ data may be disclosed to law enforcement authorities when this is required by the law.
We also use software- and data storage providers that may process your data if this is required to deliver the service. However, these providers are only allowed to process data on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions, and the data may not be disclosed to anyone other than Bittiq.
In addition, when a User decides to cancel a fixed expense with a third service provider using our Services, we share data about the user to process the request.
We may provide anonymised and/or aggregated statistical data to third parties, including other businesses and members of the public, about Users’ preferences. This data will not personally identify Users. Bittiq does not share Users’ personal data with third parties for any marketing purpose.
8. Users’ rights in respect of Personal Data
As outlined in the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), data subjects have certain rights in relation to the processing of their personal data.
• Right of access: Users have the right to access information about what personal data we process about them, including the purpose of and legal basis for the processing.
• Right to rectification: Users can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data about them.
• Right to restrict processing: Users can request that we restrict the processing of their personal data.
• Right to erasure / right to be forgotten: Users can request that we delete their personal data. We will comply with such a request to the extent required by applicable law. We may also continue to process certain data (such as data that we need to retain in order to protect our legal interests or that we are required to retain pursuant to legal obligations).
• Right to object: In connection with the processing of personal data based on our legitimate interest, Users have the right to object to the processing of their personal data. If their privacy interests outweigh our interests in processing certain data, we will stop processing such data.
• Right to data portability: Users may have the right to access personal data that they have provided to us, to receive them in a structured, generally accepted and machine-readable format. Users also have the right to transfer the personal data to another data controller.
We adopt a privacy-by-design approach. This means we do our best to ensure privacy throughout every step of the engineering process. To ensure the safety of information, we are preventive rather than reactive towards data protection. We maintain technical, physical, design and administrative security measures designed to provide the utmost protection for Users’ Personal Data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, and alteration.

We may update or change this Privacy Statement periodically. If we make any updates or changes, we will notify Users by updating the effective date at the top of this Statement. We may also provide notice of any changes through other means, such as placing a notice on our website or via email. We encourage Users to review the Privacy Statement whenever they access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our data practices and the choices available to them.
